As a father, you are expected to be a Swiss-Army tool: Fixer-of-stuff one minute, cook the next, counselor in between. And that’s just before breakfast.
But what happens when a new hat is required? One that’s way beyond your comfort zone?
Welcome to the world of Dr. Daddy and the kindergarten sick-day decision.
Not only am I not a doctor, but I’m a dude, which means that I mostly think I can solve most of my medical conditions by either rubbing dirt on it, or a combination of shaking/walking it off. These practices are not endorsed by my wife, and certainly not recognized by my son’s kindergarten administration.
Alas, today’s Ask Your Father is a podcast of some raw audio I took this morning, as my 5 year old, 3 year old and I made the final decision on whether or not to take a sick day. Of particular awesomeness is what happens at the 6:15 mark of the podcast, when an ailing 3 year old busts into the most adorable sick rendition of the Star Wars Imperial March.
What do you think? Does this stuff happen in your house? And how to do you handle it?
